Marcus James Brown, born April 3, 1974, is an American retired professional basketball player. He was 6’3″, 1.91 m tall and played as a shooting guard. Brown was a three-time All-EuroLeague player selection and has been referred to as one of the best American players who ever played abroad. Brown retired as Zalgiris Kaunas’ player-coach in 2011. Brown was the EuroLeague’s career scoring leader from 2000 until October 2011. Brown is the current leader in scoring for the EuroLeague’s United States players. He has been the leader since 2000 when Euroleague Basketball took over the competition.
Brown was 6’3″ (191cm) tall and a shooting guard. He scored more points than any American player in the EuroLeague. Brown was also the league’s top scorer, from 2000 to the time he retired in 2011.
Over the next two seasons with Efes, Brown was very successful in Turkey, as he won the Turkish Cup, and 2 Turkish League national championships. He was also named to the 2002–03 season’s All-EuroLeague Second Team, after he averaged 19.6 points per game. Brown then moved to the Russian Super League powerhouse CSKA Moscow, where he signed a contract that made him the highest paid American basketball player in Europe at that time.

He was nominated for the 2008 50 Greatest EuroLeague Contributors list, although he was not selected to the final list. He also nominated for the EuroLeague 2000–10 All-Decade Team, however he was not selected to the final list.
Brown rehabilitated his knee injury by taking off the 1998-99 season. Brown returned to the NBA with the Detroit Pistons at the beginning of the 1999-00 season. After he had played in six regular season games with the Pistons, he was released by them in 1999. For the rest of 1999-00, he signed with CSP Limoges. He won the French League championship with Limoges as well as the French Cup title and the FIBA Korac Cup champion. He was awarded the French League Foreign Player’s MVP.

The NBA club, the Portland Trail Blazers, selected Brown with the 17th round pick in the 1996 NBA Draft. In his rookie season, he averaged 4 point per game in the 1996-97 NBA season. For the 1997-98 season, he signed with Vancouver Grizzlies. However, he didn’t play in any regular season games.
After being released from the Grizzlies during the 1997-98 NBA Season, he signed with EB Pau-Orthez for the rest of 1997-98. He averaged 20.5 points per match in the French League with Pau-Orthez and led them to their 1998 French League title. In the French playoffs’ final game, Brown injured his ACL.
