Marcel Jacob is one of the most popular and richest Swedish musician who was born on January 30, 1964 in Stockholm, Stockholm County, Sweden. Marcel Jacob, born 30 January 1964 and died 21 July 2009. He was a Swedish musician best known for his work as a bass player in Talisman’s hard rock band. Marcel was briefly a member of the band Europe for a short time.
He was a member of The Johansson Brothers self-titled 1994 album. Jacob also formed Human Clay with Jeff Scott Soto. Two albums were recorded by them. Jacob was a guest on Inspiration, Yngwie J.Malmsteen’s 1996 cover album.
Jacob was found dead from suicide in his home in Kristineberg, Stockholm on 21 July 2009. He was 45 years old. Talisman vocalist Jeff Scott Soto issued the following statement: “It is with deep regret and remorse I, along with fellow members of Talisman, am announcing our brother, longtime colleague and overall greatest musician we’ve ever played with, Marcel Jacob, is no longer with us as of today, Tuesday July 21, 2009. Marcel took his own life after many years of personal and health issues he was battling.”
Jacob made his last appearance on record with the Swedish studio band Impulsia, on the album Expressions which was released on 24 September 2009 via Impulsia Music and under Riverside Records.
Jacob was a guest musician on Thomas Vikstrom’s solo album, If I Could Fly, in 1992.

Jacob and guitarist Yngwie malmsteen formed the band Rising Force in 1978. Jacob joined Force three years later. Force later changed its name from Europe to replace John Leven who had taken Jacob’s place as Rising Force’s guitarist. Jacob and Joey Tempest co-wrote the song “Black Journey Through My Soul” during his time with Force. The song, now titled “Scream of Anger”, was included on Europe’s second album Wings of Tomorrow. Jacob stayed three months in Force before he traded places with John Leven, who had apparently issues with Malmsteen. Jacob was invited back to Malmsteen’s band in 1985 to perform on Marching Out and a portion of the next US tour.
Jacob was a member of the 1987 album Total Control. It was the first solo album by John Norum. Jacob also used demo tracks from Power, his pre-Yngwie band, for many of the songs on that album. Talisman was formed two years later by Jacob and Jeff Scott Soto. Talisman, Jacob’s main effort throughout the years, was released numerous studio and live albums up to 2007.
In the early 2000s, Jacob studied psychology at Stockholm University for a few years.
