Manus Kelly Biography

Manus Kelly is one of the most popular and richest Irish Politician who was born on February 9, 1978 in Letterkenny, County Donegal, Ireland. Manus “Mandy” Kelly was an Irish rally driver, businessman and politician. He lived from 9 February 1978 to 23 June 2019. He was a rally driver and participated in the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship. He also won the Donegal International Rally three times consecutively in 2016, 2017, and 2018. He was a businessman who ran a Letterkenny-based facility management company as well as a local cafe that employed dozens of people. He was a Fianna Fail politician and ran for the local elections on 24 May 2019. He won a seat at Donegal County Council.

Kelly was competing in the 2019 Donegal International Rally when he crashed on the Fanad Head loop. Kelly’s Hyundai i20R5 car, which was equipped with a Hyundai i20 R5, crashed through a hedge and into the field. The car sustained extensive damage. His death was confirmed by the Gardai. Donall Barrett, his injured co-driver, was taken to the hospital and the remainder of the rally for 2019 were cancelled. His wife, five children and eight siblings survived him.

Kelly was killed in a crash on 23 June 2019 while competing in the 2019 Donegal International Rally. After his death, numerous public figures, including Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, paid tribute to his achievements.

Kelly’s funeral was attended by approximately 700 people at St Columba’s Church in Glenswilly, on the 27th of June 2019. The Subaru Impreza S12B WRC, in which Declan Boyle was the rally champion, led the funeral procession with Kelly’s son Charlie as the passenger. Micheal Martin and Joe McHugh, Minister for Education and Skills, attended the funeral. The Taoiseach was represented at the funeral by his aide de camp. His four brothers carried his coffin along the Donegal International Rally ramp after the funeral mass. Conwal Cemetery was his final resting place.
