Jimmy Harte is one of the most popular and richest Irish Politician who was born on February 27, 1958 in Lifford, County Donegal, Ireland. James Harte (born 27 February 1958) is an ex- Irish Labour Party politician and was a member of Seanad Eireann from April 2011 until September 2015.

Then, in February of 2012, the man made an offer to cover the cost of the flight of an Polish worker in Donegal to fly back “home” to stop her receiving unemployment benefits and FAS-related training. The article was later discovered to have was wrongly translated from Polish. As it became clear that this article Harte was referring to was not correctly translated, many went on Twitter to ask him questions regarding his views. In response, Harte began to slam users. He also accused members of being racist toward Donegal and at the same at the same time accusing others as “D4 types” in a way that was sexist. The comment was later deleted and took full responsibility for his comments.

He resigned from the Seanad on 23 September 2015, and underwent rehabilitative care for 2 years.

Harte was a member of Harte joined the Labour Party in 2010 and was the party’s candidate in the general election of 2011 in Donegal North-East, where he failed to win the seat. Harte was later appointed as a member of Seanad Eireann in the Industrial and Commercial Panel in April of 2011. Harte was elected an official Labour Party Seanad spokesperson on Enterprise, Jobs and Innovation.

The son of the former Fine Gael TD Paddy Harte who got elected as an Fine Gael candidate to Letterkenny Town Council in 1994, and later in 1999 to Donegal County Council in 1999. In 2006, he quit Fine Gael after failing to get an endorsement by the party to contest an election in the Donegal North-East constituency for the general election in 2007. He later ran for election as an independent in this election, but he wasn’t elected.

Formerly a representative elected to Fine Gael, he left after failing to secure the nomination of the party for the general election in 2007 and was unsuccessfully running as an independent. In 2010, he joined the Labour Party in 2010, contesting unsuccessfully for the Labour Party at the general election in 2011 but was elected later as a member of the Seanad.

In the early hours of 16 November 2013, Harte was found unconscious at Newmarket Square, Dublin. He was taken to Beaumont Hospital and put in an induced coma, and underwent surgery for a fractured skull and brain trauma. He had attended the Ireland–Latvia soccer friendly at the Aviva Stadium some hours earlier. In late November 2013, he moved his hand. In January 2014, Harte was transferred back to Beaumont Hospital in a critical condition.
