Manfred Lindner is one of the most popular and richest German physicist who was born on February 22, 1957 in Germany. Manfred Lindner, born 22 February 1957 in Ellenfeld, now Barnau, Germany, is a German physicist who serves as director of the Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics, Heidelberg, Germany. He is a researcher in neutrino Physics, dark matter, and other physics that goes beyond the standard model for particle physics.
Manfred Lindner’s research is in particle and astroparticle physics. From formal theoretical questions to experiments, the research spectrum covers a wide range. The theoretical studies focus on the standard model and its extensions of particle physics. Manfred Lindner’s experimental division makes major contributions to international research projects within the fields of dark matter search and neutrino physics. Currently, the main experimental projects include GERDA (project Link), which aims to detect neutrino-less double-beta decays, and the XENON, which aims to detect dark matter particles. Double Chooz measures sub-leading oscillations anti-neutrinos. His research division is responsible for developing additional detection methods and improving their sensitivity in order to set new records. Lindner is the Co- Speaker of the XENON Collaborative, which currently operates the XENON1T detector. It also prepares for the upgrade to XENONnT, which is expected to become operational in 2019. STEREO (search at the ILL research station for sterile neutrinos) and CONUS are two other projects.
In 1990 he was awarded a Heisenberg Stipendium of the Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) which he used from 1991 to teach and conduct research at the Universitat Heidelberg. Manfred Lindner received an honorary doctorate from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm (Kungliga Tekniska Hogsksolan), KTH for his significant contributions to neutrino physics. On November 18, 2016, Manfred Lindner was conferred an honorary doctorate by the KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Kungliga Tekniska Hogsksolan, KTH). Following the ceremony, there was a banquet and ballroom dancing in Stockholm’s City hall. KTH, Sweden’s oldest institution of higher education in Technology, was established in 1827. It awards honorary doctorates for outstanding work and provides positive attention to KTH.
