Mahela Udawatte is one of the most popular and richest Cricketer who was born on July 19, 1986 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Mahela Lakmal, also known as Mahela Udawatte in Sinhala (Sinhala: mheel uddvtt ), was born 19 July 1986 in Colombo. He is a professional Sri Lankan International cricketer. In 2008, he was the opening batsman. He then became a middle-order batsman for his return in 2017. After a decade of limited overs, he played his first test match against West Indies in 2018.
He was selected in Colombo’s squad for the 2018 SLC T20 League. He was selected in Galle’s squad to play in the 2019 Super Provincial One Day Tournament.
In May 2018, he was selected in Sri Lanka’s Test squad against the West Indies. On 14 June 2018, he made his Test debut against the West Indies. At 31 years old, he became the oldest Sri Lankan Test opener. He was unable to score in his first innings.

He opens the batting most of the time and made his debut in Sri Lanka in 2004-05. He was also included in the 30-man provincial squad for 2007 World Cup, but did not make it to the last fifteen.
He was selected for the Sri Lankan ODI team for their tour to West Indies in April 2008. He played in all three of the ODIs. Udawatte, who had only 2 fifties in 9 of the ODIs, was dismissed from the squad in 2009. He was finally recalled to the T20I squad to play against Pakistan after nine years. This was due to the inability of permanent players to travel to Pakistan for the T20I at Lahore. He scored poorly in all three matches.
In March 2018, he was named in Kandy’s squad for the 2017–18 Super Four Provincial Tournament. The following month, he was also named in Kandy’s squad for the 2018 Super Provincial One Day Tournament. He was the leading run- scorer for Kandy in the tournament, with 187 runs in three matches.
