Birth Year 1956

Lyubov Sirota is one of the most popular and richest Poet who was born on June 21, 1956 in Ertis, Kazakhstan. Lyubov Makarinna Sirota is a Ukrainian poet and writer. She was born June 21, 1956. She was a former resident of Pripyat, and was an eyewitness to the Chernobyl disaster. She can write in Russian and Ukrainian, as well as translating from Ukrainian to Russian and vice versa. Many languages have translated her poems, including English.

Despite her pain, Sirota’s poetry talent was enhanced by the experience. She wrote poetry to express her anger and grief, and published them in “Burden.” Burden was published in Kiev, Ukraine in 1990. Sirota lives there with her family. Sirota was a film editor at the film studio named Alexander Dovzhenko in Kiev. She reorganized “Prometheus” after her evacuation from Pripyat. This used poetry and music to tell the truth about Chernobyl and its inhabitants. Her work was hampered by repeated hospitalizations for fatigue and pain, which are typical effects of radiation exposure. Sirota was admitted to the hospital in 1992 as an invalid. However, she is determined to continue her fight against another Chernobyl.

Her own translations of the poetry of known Ukrainian poet Vasyl Stus in Russian have been issued in the book “Vasyl Stus. “And you same burn down” (Kiev, 2005).

Radiophobia (featured in Threshold and on radio) inspired Julio Soto (writer- director of the Spanish-American film Radiophobia) and artist Michael Genovese (painter of window frescoes containing the poem in the Ukrainian Village, Chicago, in 2006).

Her products were published after Chernobyl in these newspapers, almanacs of Ukraine: “The Truth Ukraine”,” “Literary Ukraine”, and “Independent Ukraine”, and “Your Health”, and “Ukrainian Forum”, and “Education”, and “Chernobyl Newspaper”, and “Post Chernobyl”, in the magazines “Ukraine”, Dnipro”, and “Extreme Situation”, and in the poetry collections: “Chernobyl. Days of tests (Kiev 1988), “Passing In a Zone” — The poetic anthology (Kiev 1996), “Chernobyl alongside …” (Kiev 2000), etc.
