Lynn Morris Jones, born January 1, 1953, is an ex-outfielder in Major League Baseball. He played for the Detroit Tigers (1979-83) as well as the Kansas City Royals (1984-1986). He threw and batted right-handed.
Jones managed nine minor league teams and compiled a record of 555-630 (.468). He also reached the postseason twice with Kane County in the Midwest League in 1995 and 1997. In 2001, he was also the first base coach for the Marlins and the Royals.
Detroit’s Rookie-of-the-Year in 1979, Jones was also a member of 14 post- season games for the Kansas City Royals (1984-1985). He went 2-for-3 in six games against St. Louis in the 1985 World Series.

Jones was originally drafted in the 10th round by the Cincinnati Reds during the 1974 June draft. He was then selected by the Detroit Tigers in 1978’s Rule 5 draft.
Jones was a student at Thiel College in Pennsylvania. He played for the Tomcats and set the school’s single season batting record of.440 in 1974. Jones was a three-sport athlete. He also played soccer and basketball in college. He was inducted into Thiel’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 1987. While at Thiel, he joined the Theta Pi chapter of Alpha Chi Rho Fraternity.
In 2004–2005, Jones was the first base coach for the Boston Red Sox. After working as the minor-league baserunning coordinator for the Braves, Jones joined the coaching staff of his alma mater, Thiel College, in 2013.
