He last played in the EIHL for the Manchester Storm. The Colorado Avalanche drafted Moffatt 197th in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Moffatt signed a try-out contract with Frolunda HC, the Swedish Hockey League, as a free agent. Moffatt made the Indians’ opening night roster, making his professional debut in the 2014-15 season. His trial period was over after he played 10 games for Frolunda and recorded 2 assists. He was not granted an extension. Moffatt made the move to Norway on October 17, 2014. He agreed to terms with the Storhamar Dragons (GET-ligaen) for the remainder of 2014. Moffatt was the Dragons’ top scorer with 44 points. He scored more than one point per game in 33 games. Moffatt scored 14 points during 16 playoff games, as the Dragons lost the Championship 7 final to Stavanger Oilers. Moffatt decided to play in the off-season and enjoyed an extended playing-holiday to Australia with the Newcastle North Stars, Australian Ice Hockey League. Moffatt was the North Stars’ most successful scorer, scoring 65 points in 21 games.

On June 2, 2017, Moffatt’s signing for Manchester Storm on a one-year basis was announced by the club. Moffatt enjoyed two seasons with the Storm, leading the club with 128 points through 113 games before opting to conclude his professional career by announcing his retirement following the 2018–19 season.

Moffatt signed a one year deal with HC Gherdeina in Italy on July 14, 2015. This agreement continued Moffatt’s European venture. Moffatt led the Italian club with 53 points from 42 games during the 2015-16 season.

Moffatt was born Paradise Valley in Arizona. Moffatt attended Pioneer High School while he remained in Ann Arbor, Michigan to continue his junior hockey playing in the U.S. National Development Team Program. Moffatt participated in many tournaments during his two years in USA Hockey. He also scored 15 points in 28 games in the 2009-10 season of the United States Hockey League. Moffatt, who had committed to playing collegiate hockey for the University of Michigan, was the Colorado Avalanche’s final pick in the NHL Entry Draft 2010, 197th overall.

Moffatt, who scored 16 points in 40 contests during his sophomore season in 2011-12 with the Michigan Wolverines, was named to CCHA All-Tournament Team. Moffatt was a scholarship student throughout his college career. He improved his goal scoring each year and was awarded the Carl Isaacson award by the Wolverines as the best student-athlete. Moffatt left the University of Michigan after the 2013-14 season. He was not offered a contract with the Colorado Avalanche.

Upon leaving Italy, Moffatt continued his European career, signing as a free agent with the newly formed Chamonix-Morzine Pioneers of the Ligue Magnus on August 4, 2016.
