Bailey began his career on Channel 4’s The Illustrated Mum. It was based on Jacqueline Wilson’s book. Bailey was then cast in the 2003 CBBC television series UGetMe, along with Reggie Yates (BBC actor/presenter). Bailey was the main character Joe on the show, and he appeared in 49 episodes.
Bailey was a regular in Casualty, a BBC medical drama that aired 109 episodes between October 2004 and May 2007. He was the son of Tess Bateman, a clinical nurse manager (Suzanne Packer), and he played Sam Bateman. Bailey was previously seen in a small role as Ben, a young child. Bailey was back on Casualty in August 2015 as Sam, to coincide with Tess’ departure.
Luke toured the UK in the award-winning musical 20th Century Boy, inspired by the life of (Marc Bolan). Luke portrayed the character of Rolan, Marc Bolan’s son. In 2013 Luke wrote and directed the play Dissociation at the Lowry Theatre in Manchester. The play received some positive reviews.
