His father Rino played for FC Naters football and his mother Katja was a teacher of sports. With a younger brother Nico and a sister Nina, he is the oldest of his three siblings. Nico was a member of the Halifax Mooseheads, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), and was selected by the New Jersey Devils as the 1st overall pick during the 2017 NHL Draft. Nina played high-level volleyball in Switzerland. Naters didn’t have any rinks so Katja took her two sons to Visp, where they learned to skate.
