Louise won gold in the women’s high jumping at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. Stefka Kostadinova was the reigning world champion in the event and the world record-holder. She lost to her. Red Oak High School graduate, she has a street named in her honor in Red Oak, Texas.

In 1988, she graduated from Texas Woman’s University. She was the star for Dr. Bert Lyle, U.S. Olympic coach.
