Ferrante was raised in Queens, New York. He was a gang leader as a teenager. The FBI, United States Secret Service and Nassau County Organized Crime Task Force eventually indicted Ferrante. Ferrante’s main informant was entered into the Witness Protection program. William Degel, who is now host of Restaurant Stakeout (Food Network), was another informant against Ferrante. Ferrante, who was facing a life sentence, wrote and distributed a song that defended John Gotti, Gambino Family Boss John Gotti. William Kunstler, a controversial civil rights lawyer, was hired by Ferrante to defend him. Kunstler claimed that Ferrante’s song was an aggravating factor for law enforcement agencies that had convicted Gotti. Kunstler also claimed that the government conspired to use large amounts of resources to indict Ferrante multiple time. Prosecutors defeated Ferrante’s defense and Ferrante was convicted. Ferrante was sentenced to a 13-year sentence in his second case. His third case ran concurrently with the first two. Ferrante refused cooperation with the government and didn’t inform about former Gambino family associates. To begin his sentence, he was sent to Lewisburg prison.
