Lindsay created the idea for flip-flops, SwitchFlops. These interchangeable flip-flops have removable straps and can be matched with any outfit. After receiving positive feedback from her ceramic flip-flops project, Lindsay began to explore the possibility of making colorful buttons and straps that could change the look of one pair of flip-flops. Her vision of “Change Your Look, Not Your Sole”, was realized quickly by the use hook-and-loop fasteners. Phillips applied to patent her invention at the end of her high-school career.

Phillips’ journey began in high school when she was inspired by an idea she had in art class. Phillips was granted her patent in 2004 and began looking for a manufacturer with the support of Liz, her mother. Phillips presented her SwitchFlops product to the Surf Expo Trade Show, Orlando, Florida in January 2007. Phillips has expanded her business to include accessories such as scarves and bags. Phillips’ shoes and accessories were featured in many publications, including Everyday With Rachel Ray, People Magazine (Style Watch Edition), Star Magazine, Star, InStyle and Woman’s World. Redbook and The New York Times also feature them. Her products were also featured on The View and The Martha Stewart Show.

Phillips donated to the Young Survival Coalition, the Morton Plant Hospital Mammogram Voucher Program, and a donor’s choice campaign. Phillips has won numerous awards including the Stevie Award as Best Entrepreneur(2009), the Women’s Leadership Exchange 2009 Biz Wiz Award and the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the year Award (2010). She also received a Rollins College Young Alumni Achievement Award (2012).
