At Headington School in Oxford, she began rowing. After four years of competing in sculling, she decided to try her hand at coxing. She coxed the junior women’s eight crew to fourth at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival in 2009 and won a gold medal at Coupe de la Jeunesse, Vichy, France, in 2009. She won a gold medal in 2010 coxing the junior women’s eight crew at the World Rowing Junior Championships Racice, Czech Republic. This was the first ever gold medal for the Great Britain Rowing Team by a junior woman.

She was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2013 New Year Honours for services to rowing and Paralympic sport.
