He moved to TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen, Germany’s top division, in the summer
- Prior to that, he had played for FC Tegernheim, second division. Pitchford was a player for Aarhus BTK, the Danish best league from 2009 to 2010. His contract with Ochsenhausen was renewed for three years in July 2014.

Pitchford started playing table tennis at age 8 Pitchford won the British Home Countries Championship 2009 and two Commonwealth Games medals (2010) (Silver and Bronze in Doubles and Team).
He beat World number nine Vladimir Samsonov in international competitions in the autumn 2011 and World junior number three Wu Jiaji to become number one in the English rankings of November 2011. He ended the year with a World ranking of 171 which was a record-breaking achievement. This made him the third- highest-ranked British player on ITTF World Rankings. He was then part of Team GB’s squad for the London Olympics 2012.
In 2014 he was part of the England men’s team which clinched promotion to the top level of world table tennis at the World Team Championships in Japan.
