After her victory at the Long Beach Grand Prix on March 18 2017 she moved into the top spot in FIE world rankings. She was one of the very first American female to be in the position of #1.

Her older sister was Harvard foil fencing champion who is also NCAA champion Alex Kiefer. Kiefer is also the mother of a young brother named Axel whom has fenced in a range in junior world and cadet championships and has posted several impressive results both nationally and internationally. Kiefer won bronze in the Women’s foil during the World Fencing Championships.
