Roper was quarterbacks coach at Valdosta State University from 2014 to 2015. On March 1, 2016, he was named the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania.
His contract was put in place by Chicago Rush of the AFL on September 30, 2011. The team traded him for the Orlando Predators on April 2 in 2012. Roper was a quarterback who scored 15 touchdowns and 815 total yards with the Predators in 2012.

Roper has been redshirted by Oregon Ducks of the University of Oregon in the year 2006. Roper made his first collegiate debut at the 2007 Sun Bowl on December 31 2007, in the Sun Bowl against South Florida Bulls, throwing for four touchdowns, and taking the Ducks to a victory of 56-21. He ended his time in Oregon’s University of Oregon with nine touchdown passes and 952 yards of passing.
Roper was transferred from his home at the University of Montana in 2009 in 2009, where he participated in football with the Montana Grizzlies. Also, he played basketball with the Grizzlies.
