Baggott started publishing at the age of 22. After having received her M.F.A. at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro She published her debut novel Girl Talk, while she was in her 20s. Girl Talk was a national bestseller, and it was later followed with Boston Globe bestseller The Miss America Family The Miss America Family, and later Boston Herald Book Club selection The Madam, a historical novel based on story of her mother. The novel was co-written by her Which Brings Me to You with Steve Almond, A Best Book of 2006 (Kirkus Reviews) that was later optioned to director Richard Brown and adapted by Keith Bunin.
She also writes best-selling novels for young readers with the pseudonym N.E. Bode and under the pen name Julianna Baggott. The Anybodies trilogy was a People Magazine pick alongside David Sedaris and Bill Clinton, a Washington Post Book of the Week, a Girls’ Life Top Ten, a Booksense selection, and was in development at Nickelodeon/Paramount; The Slippery Map (fall 2007), and the prequel to Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium (2007), a movie starring Dustin Hoffman, Natalie Portman, and Jason Bateman. Two years ago, Bode was a recurring presenter in Sirius XM Radio.
