Joshua Jooris (born July 14 the 14th of July, 1990) is an Canadian professional hockey player that is playing at present for Lausanne HC of the National League (NL). He was a non-drafted player. Jooris joined the Calgary Flames organization in 2013 after three seasons of college hockey with the Union College Dutchmen. He is an Swiss license as he made his debut as a junior in Switzerland.
Jooris was not re-signed by the Flames after a disappointing 2015-16 season. He was an unrestricted free agent on July 15th in 2016, he signed to the terms of a one-year contract to the New York Rangers. For the season 2016-17, Jooris joined the Rangers starting night roster. After being limited to 12 games for the Rangers at the time of December 10 the 10th of December, 2016 Jooris was put on waivers because of the strength of the forward pool at the club. The next day, on the 11th of December, he reclaimed from waivers by the Arizona Coyotes. Jooris continued to play for the team for the remainder of the season scoring three goals and scoring 10 points over 42 games.
On July 1, 2018, Jooris joined his sixth NHL organization in agreeing to a one-year, two-way contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs. After attending the Maple Leafs training camp, Jooris was unable to make the opening night roster and was assigned to start the 2018–19 season with AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies. As a fixture on the Marlies third line, Jooris featured in 74 games to record 8 goals and 15 points. He notched 2 assist in 13 playoff games before suffering defeat in the Eastern Conference Finals to the Charlotte Checkers.
As an impending free agent from the Maple Leafs, on June 7, 2019, Jooris opted to follow his fathers’ footsteps and pursue a career in Europe, signing a three-year contract with Swiss club, Lausanne HC of the NL, revealed to be the club where he first played junior hockey during his fathers’ tenure with the club.
After the 2014-15 season, Jooris was made restricted free agents in the NHL Collective Bargaining Agreement. The Flames offered him an offer of qualifying to keep his NHL rights. On the 5th of July, 2015 Jooris applied for Salary Arbitration.

A resident of Burlington, Ontario, Jooris played two seasons of junior hockey with the Burlington Cougars between 2009 and 2011. He then decided to join in college in Union College for the Union Dutchmen program within the East Coast Athletic Conference (ECAC). He played for three seasons as a member of the Dutchmen and as an undrafted player was a trialist on three National Hockey League (NHL) teams. He was a participant in the training camp of Boston Bruins in 2011, Boston Bruins in 2011, and later in 2012 with the Vancouver Canucks. After a third try, the year 2013, he was successful and secured a deal to the Calgary Flames and turned professional. They Flames were assigned to the American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate known as The Abbotsford Heat for the 2013-14 season. He played on the field in 73 of the games played by the Heat scoring 11 goals and had 16 assists.
In his second season as a professional, Jooris impressed the Flames coaching staff with his performances during pre-season. He scored three goals in just six games, and was praised for his defensive game. But, he was also one of the players removed from the team in the run-up to 2014-15. He became Calgary’s AHL affiliate that had moved in the direction of The Adirondack Flames. A sprain at David Jones less than two weeks into the season lead to Jooris his first recall to Calgary on the 16th of October 2014. Jooris was able to make his NHL debut the next evening, and scored his first goal in the NHL against goalie Sergei Bobrovsky in a loss of 3-2 against The Columbus Blue Jackets.
On June 26, 2017, Jooris was not tendered a qualifying offer as a restricted free agent from the Coyotes, releasing him to free agency. On July 1, 2017, Jooris signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Carolina Hurricanes. On February 8, 2018, the Hurricanes placed Jooris on waivers. On February 26, 2018, Jooris was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for Greg McKegg. He was then assigned to continue in the AHL with the Penguins affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. He was called up to play with the Pittsburgh Penguins for the first time on March 8, 2018, and was reassigned to the AHL two games later on March 14.
