Jonathan D’Aversa (born March 2, 1986) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played in the American Hockey League (AHL) with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins before spending the majority of his professional career in Europe.
After a brief stint in Koln D’Aversa was transferred as free agent to the neighboring Austrian Hockey League with Dornbirner EC on the 4th of August 2012. He was with the club until the close of the season of 2015-16. In April of 2016 He signed a contract with an Austrian club, EHC Linz.
On the 11th of July on the 11th of July, 2010 D’Aversa was released from North America and signed a one-year deal for the Augsburger Panther of the German Deutsche Eishockey League to play in the 2010-11 campaign. In the 2007-08 season, D’Aversa spent time with the Penguins American Hockey League affiliate the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL, representing the Nailers in the ECHL All-Star Game.
D’Aversa is an undrafted athlete who was a part of the Sudbury Wolves of the OHL. As an assistant captain of the Wolves during the 2006-07 season, D’Aversa was third on the team scoring, and was picked to play for the OHL All-Star classic. In the play-offs, he was 2nd in scoring among defensemen.
