Jon Tenuta (born February 25 in 1957) is a coach for football who is the safety coach of the Cincinnati Bearcats. Prior to that, Tenuta was the defensive coordinator for the Virginia Cavaliers. He was a student at Upper Arlington High School in Columbus, OH. In his senior year, Upper Arlington played in the state championship game , but was defeated by Warren Harding. He concluded his college professional career at University of Virginia. The nickname of the high school”Punchy” was “Punchy,” after the Hawaiian Punch character.

On the 3rd of January in 2013 it was announced that Tenuta and the former North Carolina State head coach Tom O’Brien would be joining the coaching staff at the University of Virginia. Tenuta was an assistant coach for defensive matters for the Cavaliers until the year 2015.

On the 3rd January 2012, it was reported that Tenuta was appointed assistant head coach of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign by the new Head Coach Tim Beckman, however Tenuta declared on January 4 that he was staying with NC State.

Tenuta is the previous assistant director of football and the defensive coordinator for Georgia Tech’s defensive coordinator and associate head coach.
