Jon Matsumoto is one of the most popular and richest Ice Hockey Player who was born on October 13, 1986 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Jonathan Richard Matsumoto (born October 13th in 1986) is an Canadian professional hockey player. He plays for Kolner Haie of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL).

On the 12th of July 2012 Matsumoto became an agent on a no-cost basis with the San Jose Sharks. Matsumoto was immediately assigned for the Worcester Sharks to start the 2012-13 season because of the NHL lockout. In the end, after scoring just 32 points over 60 matches, Matsumoto got loaned out to Chicago Wolves. Chicago Wolves to end the season on April 8, 2013.

On July 8, 2013, Matsumoto returned to the Florida Panthers organization as a free agent, signing a one-year contract.

After spending the first 7 professional seasons of his career in North America, on May 26, 2014, Matsumoto agreed to his first European contract, signing a one-year deal with German club, Schwenninger Wild Wings of the DEL. After a season with the Wild Wings, Matsumoto joined fellow DEL competitor, Augsburger Panther on a one-year deal on July 23, 2015. He made 52 appearances for the Panthers, tallying 20 goals and 29 assists.

On June 26th in 2010, Philadelphia made a trade of Matsumoto for the Carolina Hurricanes for a 2010 seventh-round draft selection. A month later, Matsumoto was able to make his NHL debut on the 1st of November with the Flyers. Matsumoto had his very first NHL goal on the 3rd of November on the 3rd of November, 2010, in a game against Rick DiPietro of the New York Islanders. The match is also the first game with multiple goals in the NHL with an additional score in the 3rd quarter of the game.

Matsumoto started playing in the collegiate game with his team the Bowling Green State University Falcons in the 2004-05 season. Matsumoto became only the third freshman in Falcons history to be the top scorer for the team. After two seasons of success the team drafted him to the Philadelphia Flyers in the third round, 79th overall in the NHL Entry Draft.

After his junior season, Matsumoto began working out with the Flyers’ AHL affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms. Flyers management were impressed with the results, which is why on the 14th March 2007 Matsumoto chose to skip his senior season, and instead signed an entry-level agreement for the Flyers. Matsumoto was assigned to the Phantoms and made his debut in the professional ranks on March 16, 2007.

Matsumoto was traded by the Hurricanes to the Florida Panthers on January 18, 2012 with Mattias Lindström, in exchange for Evgenii Dadonov and A. J. Jenks.
