John van den Brom (born on October 4, 1966) is a former professional footballer as well as director for the Dutch Eredivisie side FC Utrecht. As as a player He played for Vitesse, Ajax, De Graafschap and Istanbulspor. After his playing careerended, Van den Brom was a manager. He served as the head coach at AGOVV Apeldoorn (2007-2010), ADO Den Haag (2010-2011), Vitesse (2011-2012) and Anderlecht (2012-2014). After overseeing AZ for five years the coach was promoted to head of FC Utrecht from the 2019-2020 season.

Van den Brom played in two appearances in his Dutch nation’s team. He was part of the 8-0 win over Malta and also in the 6-0 victory in the 6-0 win against San Marino. He scored one goal.

He was signed by Belgian club Anderlecht on May 29, 2012, as their head coach. He was dismissed on March 10, 2014.

The birthplace of Van den Brom was Amersfoort, Netherlands, Van den Brom began his football career as an amateur with APWC at Amersfoort before he was signed as an official footballer with Vitesse from 1986. After seven seasons at Vitesse with 225 games played and scoring 80 goals Van den Brom made the switch towards Dutch giants Ajax which the team played for two years before making the move to Turkish club Istanbulspor. Then he returned with Vitesse in the middle of one campaign and played for five more seasons there, before signing with De Graafschap for his final season. He retired from football in 2003.

Following his playing career, was over, he was appointed head scout for De Graafschap and head coach of the amateur side Bennekom prior to becoming the manager of the 2nd team of Ajax on April 29th, 2004. From 2007 until 2010, He was head coach of the small Eerste Divisie club AGOVV Apeldoorn with impressive results. He also being selected for the playoffs for promotion in the season he was in charge for his final time. In May 2010 , he was named the new head coach at Eredivisie ADO Den Haag. ADO Den Haag, with whom he was able to qualify for the 2012 Europa League. In June of 2011, Van den Brom was appointed head coach at his old club Vitesse. In the same way, he was able to get his team into his club to play in the Europa League.

On 27 September 2014, it was announced that Van den Brom had signed a deal with AZ to succeed Marco van Basten as the new manager. After managing AZ for 5 years, he moved to take charge of FC Utrecht from the 2019-2020 season.
