Joey Mormina (born June 29 1982) is a Canadian former professional defenceman in ice hockey who played in the American Hockey League (AHL) participating in the regular seasons in 670 games. He played in one contest during the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Carolina Hurricanes.
In the 2015-16 campaign, when he was in his third year playing for the Syracuse Crunch, Mormina was transferred with the Rochester Americans for future considerations on March 4 in 2016. After the end of the season for the Americans, Mormina ended his professional career after eleven seasons by accepting an assistant coach job at Mercyhurst University on September 21 on the 21st of September, 2016.
On August 5 the 5th of August, 2010 Mormina signed an agreement with DEL’s Kassel Huskies. But, with the Huskies announced their bankruptcy on the 27th of August the same day. Mormina was declared an unrestricted free agent once more. In September of 2010, Mormina signed a contract with the EC Red Bull Salzburg of the Erste Bank Hockey League. After featuring in a European pre- season tournament, Mormina sought a release from Salzburg and returned to North America, returning to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for the 2010-11 season.

Mormina was selected 193rd overall, by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft from Colgate University. In the absence of a contract from the Flyers, Mormina began his professional career playing two seasons for the Manchester Monarchs, the AHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings.
On July 2nd July, 2007, Mormina joined the Carolina Hurricanes and received his first call-up for the NHL. Mormina took part in one game with the Hurricanes before being transferred back to the AHL. On July 8, 2008, Mormina signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins and spent the entire 2008-09 season with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
