Jira Maligool is one of the most popular and richest Film Director who was born on February 24, 1961 in Thailand. Jira’s second film as a director, The Tin Mine was lavish production of the mining of tin located in the southern part of Thailand during the 50s. The film was based on short stories written by Thai author Archin Panjabhan who was an advisor for the film. The film was not a success in the Thai box office, however it has won numerous awards and was presented at international film festival.
Jira began her career on screen as the scriptwriter of the film of 2000, The Iron Ladies (Satree lek) The film was based on the true story of a gay and transvestite (katoey) men’s volleyball team who took home an award at the Thailand National Championship in the year 1996. The film has since gone on to be a box office success in Thailand and has also been an extremely popular film during international film festivals. It was written and directed by Youngyooth Thongkonthun. He’s since gone to direct a sequel the film Iron Ladies as well as another comedy, M.A.I.D. and Metrosexual in 2006. Metrosexual.
Then, in the year 1991, founded the company that he owns, Hub Ho Hin Bangkok (later Hub Ho Hin Films). In 2003, it amalgamated together with GMM the Grammy’s film department GMM Pictures and Visute Poolvoralaks firm Tai Entertainment to form GMM Tai Hub (or GTH). In 2016, he became the an important person in GDH 559, a film studio which is the successor to GTH.

Jira Maligool (Thai: cchira malikul ; RTS: Chira Malikun born 1961) is a Thai screenwriter, film director and producer. The director has been involved in three projects: Mekhong Full Moon Party The Tin Mine and Seven Something (part 42.195) and was also the screenwriter of the hit film that became an international sensation, The Iron Ladies.
He was also behind the hit 2003 film, Fan Chan (My Girl), a nostalgic look at childhood in 1980s Thailand. The film’s ensemble of six directors – Komgrit Treewimol, Songyos Sugmakanan, Nithiwat Tharathorn, Vijja Kojew, Vithaya Thongyuyong and Adisorn Tresirikasem – were students of Jira, who taught as a part-time professor in photography and cinematography classes at Chulalongkorn University. Two of those directors, Komgrit and Songyos, went on to direct hit films, Komgrit helming the romantic comedy Dear Dakanda in 2005 and Songyos with the hit 2006 thriller Dek hor (Dorm).
