Jim Stamatis is one of the most popular and richest Soccer Manager who was born on February 28, 1958 in Greece. Stamatis relocated to his home in the United States with his family as a child. He went to Liberty High School in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania. and was named to be on the All State Team in 1975. After graduating from high school, he was enlisted by several top colleges, but decided to join Penn State because of Coach Bahr’s candor that Stamatis was required to prove himself worthy of his place for the national team. Stamatis was a hard worker and grew into one of the best collegiate forwards.
He had not been able to finish his studies studying at Penn State, so he chose to attend into the New Jersey Institute of Technology where he earned the Civil Engineering degree in 1985. The choice of the college was driven by fact that his then-fiancee and wife of the time was born in New Jersey. While there in New Jersey, Stamatis continued his involvement in soccer but now as an instructor rather than an athlete. He was appointed an assistant coach for the men’s soccer team of the school. Stamatis was an engineer in the civil engineering department of the Louis Berger Group and rose to the rank of Chief Executive Officer and President Officer. Although he was not able to remain a soccer coach following his graduation from NJIT but he re-entered to coaching after his children started playing. His accomplishments as a coach currently include the three New Jersey State Cups and two Region I Championships. The coach has 2 sons. John who was a player at Harvard University from 2005-2008, and William who currently plays at Columbia University.
In 1980 in 1980, in 1980, the San Diego Sockers selected Stamatis in the first round of the North American Soccer League draft. He played only for one season in the league, before changing into the Denver Avalanche of Major Indoor Soccer League and the Pennsylvania Stoners of the American Soccer League before injuries to his back ended his career in soccer.

in 1978 Stamatis received the honor of being named an All-Star squad All American. The next one year Stamatis got selected to be the winner of the Hermann Trophy, awarded annually to the player who has the highest level of excellence throughout American NCAA soccer. Penn State also made it to the NCAA finals in the same year before falling to eventual champions SIU-E.
His impressive performance with Penn State brought him to the notice by the National team. the team invited him to the national team U-23 during the 1979 Pan American Games and for preparations for the 1980 Summer Olympics.
