Jim Britt Grobe (born February 17th 1952) is a American professional football player and coach who was the defensive coordinator for the San Antonio Commanders of the Alliance of American Football. Grobe was the most recent Head Football Coach for Baylor University. From 2001 until 2013 Grobe was director of football for Wake Forest University. In 2006 Grobe was awarded ACC coach of the year in an unanimous vote, and AP Coaching of the Year after leading Wake Forest to an 11-2 regular season and winning the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship.

On May 30, 2016, Grobe was hired as Baylor’s head coach for the 2016 season. Grobe led the Baylor Bears to their seventh consecutive bowl game, the Motel 6 Cactus Bowl in Arizona. Baylor entered the game as heavy underdogs to the 10–2 Boise State Broncos, but the Bears rolled to an easy 31–12 victory.
As of 2006 Grobe was the coach of Wake Forest to record-setting 11 wins, which included an all-time road record of 6-0. Grobe’s Wake Forest team also won the Atlantic Coast Conference championship by winning against Georgia Tech, 9-6, in the conference championship game. They Demon Deacons earned their first journey to the BCS bowl game, and they took on Louisville at the Orange Bowl. Grobe has been named the ACC Coaching of the Year. He was awarded 80 percent of the votes from the media of the league, making Grobe only the 6th Wake Forest coach to win the honor. Grobe was also honored with his Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Award as well as the AP Coach of the Year Award in the year 2006.

Grobe obtained his bachelor’s education (B.S.) on education at The University of Virginia in 1975 and later earned a master’s degree in counseling and guidance at the University of Virginia at the end of 1978. While playing in Virginia during 1973 and 1974 Grobe performed as a mid-range guard (1973) along with the position of linebacker (1974). Grobe was a two-year starting linebacker of the Virginia Cavaliers and was named Academic All-ACC.
Before he enrolled in Virginia, Grobe spent two seasons at Ferrum College, then known as Ferrum Junior College, where Grobe played linebacker for the unbeaten Coastal Conference championship team. Grobe received his Catlin Citizenship Award and the Big Green Award. In the autumn of 2002 Grobe got inducted into Ferrum College Hall of Fame.
Grobe and his wife Holly have two sons, Matt and Ben, and four grandchildren. Matt was named Head Men’s Golf Coach at Marshall University in 2012. Ben is Assistant Director of Football Operations at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
