Jim Carr is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on October 11, 1951 in Winnipeg, Canada. James Gordon Carr PC OM MP (born on 11th October 1951) is a Canadian politician who has been an MP (MP) of Winnipeg South Centre since 2015.

From 1992 until 1997, Carr worked on the Editorial Board of Winnipeg Free Press. From 1998 to 1999, he was elected the president and CEO of the Business Council of Manitoba, an organization was founded by him, and which he continued to work with until the year 2015. Carr has also been a member of the board of the Canada West Foundation and the Winnipeg Airports Authority, as also vice-president of the Performing Arts Consortium of Winnipeg as well as a director for the Manitoba Arts Stabilization Fund. Carr is also involved with his involvement in the Canadian Jewish Congress.

In this role, he also participated in the Winnipeg Consensus, which began with an unprecedented meeting held in October 2009, bringing together diverse organizations who agreed a national dialogue and a Canadian Clean Energy Strategy was needed on the role of energy in Canada’s environmental and economic future.

In July 2011, Carr was awarded the Order of Manitoba.

Following the redistribution of seats, Carr sought re-election in the provincial election of 1990 in the district of Crescentwood and was defeated by Progressive Conservative Tom DeNardi by 1,310 votes. The Liberals reduced their seats from twenty to seven in the election. Carr was forced to leave his post in February 1992.

In Winnipeg, Manitoba, Carr is the descent from Jewish immigrants who came from Russia in the year 1906. He was a bar mitzvah celebrant during the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue (Winnipeg) in 1964. He also attended The University of Winnipeg, the University of British Columbia and McGill University. He was journalist, musician and administrator. Carr was first elected to Manitoba legislature during the 1986 provincial election but lost in the election to Progressive Conservative leader Gary Filmon in the luxurious West Winnipeg area of Tuxedo. He returned for the 1988 provincial election amid a period of growing popularity for provincial Liberals and won an impressive victory in the district of Fort Rouge, defeating NDP cabinet minister Roland Penner by over 2,000 votes. In 1988, the Progressive Conservatives formed a minority government following the election, and Carr became the Deputy Leader of the opposition party.

In 2006, he advocated for the province to reduce its health costs, which reached as high as 42 per cent of the provincial government’s expenses, and for government officials to keep an open mind to options that included privatization. “Everything is worth studying, and it’s studied everywhere around the world. There are advances that have been made in other places, with cultures similar to our own, that could be applied here,” said Carr.
