Janne Juhani Olainen, a Finnish professional ice hockey player, was born April 9, 1968 in Tampere. He is the all-time top scorer in Finland’s SM-liiga with 799 point. Tappara, the SM-liiga side of his career, was where he spent most of his time.

Ojanen, who spent two years in North America after his stint, returned to Finland and played two seasons with Tappara. Ojanen was also a participant in the 1991 Canada Cup. Ojanen was also a participant in the 1991-92 Season.

The colour of his World Championship medal improved as Ojanen was part of the first world championship winning team of Finland, when they beat rival Sweden 4 goals to 1 in the finals and the tournament was played in Sweden. During the 1994–95 season Ojanen played also for Swiss HC Lugano in Nationalliga A playoffs, as Tappara’s SM-liga season had ended.

After three seasons in Tappara, Ojanen was signed by the Swedish Elitserien Malmö IF Redhawks. Ojanen had signed a two-year contract to Malmö and played well in Sweden. During his first season, he was selected to 1997 World Championship team.

Ojanen played three games with the Devils in his NHL return, which was made in the 1991-92 NHL playoffs. Ojanen’s fourth NHL year was however not as successful. Ojanen played 31 games with the Devils in the 1992-93 NHL season, and seven for Cincinnati Cyclones. He scored 9 points for Cyclones. Ojanen returned to Finland after the season ended.

Ojanen began his playing career with Tappara, his hometown team. Ojanen played 3 SM-liiga games on his first season. Ojanen had been named the best player at Pohjola Leiri two years prior.
