Jamey Harris, born June 14, 1971, is an American track and field and cross country coach. He was the 1998 USA national champion in men’s 1500m and was fourth in the world in men’s marathon at the 1998 Goodwill Games. Jamey Harris is currently the Head Coach for Cross Country and Assistant coach of Track and Field at Humboldt State University.

Harris won the Division III Association of Independents Coach of Year award for women’s cross-country three times during his time at UCSC. Harris was responsible for major changes in the UCSC Track & Field & Cross Country programs. They went from Cross Country only to include a Women’s Track Team, which consisted of distance runners in 2012, to adding a Mens Track Team to compete in all events in 2015. UCSC sponsored the 2017 Outdoor Track season’s first full varsity squads, both for men and women. They competed in all events.

Harris received a degree from California State University, Fresno, in 1994. He was a biomechanics major. Harris was an All-American indoor track and field athlete in 1992 and 1994 while at Fresno. He also won the 1992 and 1991 Big West Conference Championships 1500 meters. He won the Big West Conference Championships in cross-country in 1991 and 1992, as well as the Western Athletic Conference Championships in 1992.

Jamey Harris was a graduate of Beaverton High School where he was coached and graduated in 1989. In 1988, he won the Oregon State OSAA Boys Cross Country Championships. Harris was 5th in 3000 meters (8.46.77 seconds) and 4th at 1500 meters (4.00.40). Harris was also part of Beaverton High School’s 4×800 Relay team, which set a state record.

Harris was also a participant in the 1990 IAAF World Cross Country Championships as a USA Junior Men’s team member, and finished in 104th position.

He simultaneously served as head track coach at Pacific Collegiate School for 3 years.
