He played junior rugby league for the Ballina Seagulls before signing with the South Sydney Rabbitohs. Roberts played for the Rabbitohs’ NYC team from 2010 to 2012 and scored 28 tries in 26 matches. On 3 October 2010, Roberts played on the wing in the 2010 NYC Grand Final for the South Sydney Rabbitohs against the New Zealand Warriors and scored a try in the 42-28 loss.

On 14 March 2014, Roberts was released from the Panthers for off-field misbehaviour and later was “thrown a lifeline” when he was signed by the Gold Coast Titans for the 2014 NRL season on 31 March 2014. In Round 14 of the 2014 NRL season, Roberts made his club debut for the Gold Coast Titans against the Melbourne Storm at centre and scored a try in the Titans 24-20 loss at Cbus Super Stadium. Roberts finished off his first season at the Gold Coast Titans in the 2014 NRL season with him playing in 12 matches and scoring 5 tries. On 30 October 2014, Roberts was investigated by the NRL after he was arrested for public nuisance in Surfers Paradise.
