Hermes Desio is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on January 20, 1970 in Rosario, Argentina. Hermes Aldo Desio (born 20/01/70) is an Argentine ex- professional footballer. He played as a defensive midfielder for Independiente and Celta de Vigo.

Desio, who had retired as a player in 2009, became the co-ordinator for youth football at his local team Sporting Club de Corral de Bustos. In 2013, Desio was promoted to a similar position at Estudiantes de La Plata, working under Juan Sebastian Veron, the sporting director, and then taking over the post of overseeing the underage national teams for the Argentine Football Association in 2017.

After missing only 10 league matches over the past four years, he was absent almost the entire campaign due to a serious injury in his right knee. He was injured in a preseason match in England and although he returned to the squad in 2002/03 with a positive result, he was stopped by two red cards. At the end of the season, he was 33 years old and was relegated to the second division. His nine-year stint in Europe also saw him acquire Spanish citizenship.

Desio was born in Corral de Bustos, Cordoba Province in Argentina. He began his professional career playing for Club Renato Cesarini, Independiente and won the 1993-94 Clausura. By the time they won the 1994 Supercopa Sudamericana he had already left. He had transferred initially on loan to Celta de Vigo, Spain’s La Liga manager, and he was no longer with them.

Desio’s time in Galicia was longer than that of Aimar. He moved to second-tier UD Salamanca in December 1996. The team finished as runners up and were promoted. Desio would stay at the same level by joining Deportivo Alaves. He was respected for his aggressive approach and ball-winning skills. The Basque club won the Segunda Division in 1997-98. Desio played regular as the team coached by Mane. They reached the finals of the European competition in consecutive years and were promoted to the top division.

His son Gonzalo (born in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain) is also a footballer, trained in the ranks of Estudiantes and involved with Argentina’s national youth squads, appearing at the 2018 South American Games.
