Shawn Willis Riggans (born July 25 in 1981) was a professional baseball player with the Tampa Bay Rays, spending time in the Tampa Bay Rays from 2006 to 2009.

In his first year in the Rays team, Riggans hit .345 with 8 home runs over 15 games with the Princeton, Virginia Devil Rays (Tampa Bay’s former rookie ball affiliate). Riggans was able to win the Rays defense catcher in the minor leagues of the year honor four times. He played an entire six seasons in the Rays minor leagues before being called up for the roster expansion for September in the year 2006.

Riggans would again receive some playing time at the major league level in 2009, appearing in seven games for the club.

In 2010 Riggans signed a minor league contract with the New York Mets organization; after being released by that club he played for the New Jersey Jackals of the Independent Can-Am League. He would sign another minor league contract in 2011, this time with the Milwaukee Brewers organization, but did not appear in any games with the big league club and was granted free agency at the end of the year, effectively ending his career as a professional ballplayer.

Riggans first major league appearance took place on September 5, 2006 the day that Rays Manager Joe Maddon pinch hit Riggans to Rocco Baldelli, in the ninth innings of the contest against Minnesota Twins; he proceeded to score a hit in center field. Riggans would go on to finish the rest year with just five hit over 29 at-bats across 10 games.

Riggans was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to John and Patricia Riggans. He was a part of St. Thomas Aquinas High School as an reserve player due in part due to his small size. When he entered the college in Florida International University he was initially excluded as a player by his team. After a successful performance at an opportunity later, he gained an entry on the team. In addition, after an move from Indian River Community College Riggans was spotted and was selected at the 24-th spot (706th overall) of the 2000 MLB Draft by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

The Rays would win the American League pennant that year, defeating the Chicago White Sox in the American League Division Series and the Boston Red Sox in the American League Championship Series, before falling to the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2008 World Series. Though Riggans made the postseason roster, he did not appear in any games during any of the series.
