Jokiharju was first brought up in the Jokerit youth programs. He played for the under-16 and the under-18 teams in 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-15 respectively. Then he joined the Tappara under-18 and 20 teams in 2015-16. Jokiharju was draft eligible in 2016-17 and he played for the Portland Winterhawks (WHL) during that year. For a total 48 points, he scored nine goals and 39 assists over 71 games. The Winterhawks won six games against the Prince George Cougars to reach the playoffs. They then lost five games to the Kelowna Rockets in five. Jokiharju added three assists in the 11 playoff games. Jokiharju was selected to the Western Conference Second-Team All-Star team during 2017-18.
Jokiharju signed a 3-year contract with Chicago Blackhawks on 12 June 2018. Jokiharju made his NHL debut against the Ottawa Senators on October 4, after he had participated in Blackhawks training camp. Jokiharju scored his first NHL goal with an assist on Captain Jonathan Toews’ goal, in a 5-4 overtime victory over the St. Louis Blues.
