Lindahl capped 100 times for Sweden’s women’s football team against England on 3 August 2014. Lindahl won her 113th cap on 17 September 2015. This broke Elisabeth Leidinge’s record for being the mostcapped female goalkeeper in Sweden. She has been a goalkeeper for Sweden at the UEFA Women’s Championship and FIFA Women’s World Cup. Lindahl was named the Swedish women’s goalkeeper-of-the year in 2005, 2009 and 2014. After being nominated for Damallsvenskan’s Most Valuable Player, she won the 2015 Diamantbollen. Lindahl stated that her senior international debut was in January 2002. She won 5-0 against England in behind-closed doors match in La Manga. She is proud of her “clean sheet” debut and has complained about reports that sometimes misinterpret it with the 6-3 victory Sweden won over England at Algarve Cup six months later.
After moving to Linköpings and securing first team football at club level, Lindahl began to compete more equally with Caroline Jönsson and Sofia Lundgren for appearances at international level. She understudied Jönsson at the 2004 Olympics. By the time of UEFA Women’s Euro 2005 in England, Lindahl was Sweden’s first choice goalkeeper and played in all three group games, as well as the extra-time semi final defeat to rivals Norway.
Incoming national team coach Thomas Dennerby retained Lindahl and she featured at both the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup and 2008 Olympics in China and UEFA Women’s Euro 2009 in Finland. She remained Sweden’s number one goalkeeper for the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany, where Sweden came third, and the 2012 London Olympics.
After being scouted in 2001 by Elisabeth Leidinge, Malmo’s national youth team coach, she moved into Damallsvenskan together with Malmo FF Dam. Lindahl was challenged by Caroline Jonsson, the then national team goalkeeper. After finishing the 2003 season on loan at IF Trion she spent five seasons at Linkopings FC before joining Kopparbergs/Goteborg FC for 2009.
