Trivedi was born at Kherali in Surendranagar, in the Surendranagar region, to Amrutlal, and Shashikala. His father was a poet. Trivedi finished his school education at Sheth N.T.M. Surendranagar High School. Trivedi graduated from Saurashtra University in a Bachelor of Arts and Master’s degree. He was also a specialist in Gujarati literature. In 1991, Trivedi married Bindu Bhatt, a Gujarati author.

Trivedi began his career in 1981 as a research assistant for Gujarati Sahitya Kosh. He worked there from 1981 to 1984. He joined Gujarat Sahitya Akadami in 1984 as a proofreader and continued there for a decade, until 1994. In 1995, he was appointed editor of Shabdasrishti (an organ of Gujarat Sahitya Akademi), where he continued to serve for a further decade. He also served as a registrar at Shabdasrishti from 2010 to 2015. Trivedi was elected as a member of both the Central Committee of Gujarati Sahitya Parishad and the Working Committee of Parishad. He was the Parishad’s secretary from 2002 to 2006. Trivedi was a member of the Vali Gujarati Gazal Kendra’s Working Committee, which began in 2005. He was a member of the Advisory Committee for Gujarati Language at Sahitya Akademi from 2008 to 2012. He was elected to the National Book Trust’s Advisory Committee for Gujarati Language in 2013. Many of Trivedi’s works have been translated into English, Hindi and Marathi. Many of his stories and poems are published in Gujarati literary magazines, including Gazalvishwa and Shabdasrishti and Tadarthya and Shabdasar.
Ek Khali Naav was his first collection of poetry. It was published in 1984. Taro Awaaj ((2003), Rahi Chhe Vaat Adhuri (2004), and Taraveni (2014) followed. His technical proficiency and linguistic and thematic richness in his poetry earned him critical acclaim. In his poetry, Trivedi explores rural and urban life. Jaaliyun (1994) was his first collection of short stories. Jaaliyun’s stories deal with a variety of themes, including the sweet memories of childhood and the pain of an imputed husband. Paani Kalar (1990), is a collection his children’s work, while Shabdanubhav (2001) is a collection critical writings.
