Hajime Moriyasu is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on August 23, 1968 in Kakegawa, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. Hajime Moriyasu (Sen Bao Yi, Moriyasu Hajime; born 23 August 1968) was a Japanese former football player and manager. In 14 years of Sanfrecce Hiroshima he made more than 250 appearances, including a loan year to Kyoto Purple Sanga. He then spent his last season as a professional football player with Vegalta Sendai. He was also a 35-time player for the Japan national soccer team. Hiroshi’s brother and Keigo’s sons Shohei, Keigo, are both footballers. He is currently the manager of Japan’s senior and olympic football teams.
Japan reached the 1994 World Cup qualifying for the 1994 World Cup under Ooft. Moriyasu was there when Japan’s hopes of reaching the finals were dashed by an Iraqi equaliser in injury time in the last qualifier. This match is now known as the Agony of Doha.
In 1998, Ooft became the manager of Kyoto Purple Sanga and recruited Moriyasu on a loan deal. The deal was initially meant to be a permanent one but infuriated Hiroshima supporters collected signatures against the deal, which forced the clubs to settle for a loan. He was the linchpin of Kyoto for the 1998 season.
Moriyasu came back to Hiroshima for the 1999 season but find out his opportunities to play gradually decreasing mainly because of young Kazuyuki Morisaki’s challenge for the place.
In 1992, Ooft was appointed the Japan national team’s coach. Moriyasu was called up to play Moriyasu in his first match against Argentina, which took place at the Tokyo National Stadium on 31 May 1992. Moriyasu, at the time, was a relatively unknown player and many of his international teammates couldn’t pronounce his name. Ooft gave him a simple task throughout his reign: “Win the ball and pass it Ruy Ramos”.

Moriyasu attended Nagasaki Nihon University High school and played there. He joined the Japan Soccer League side Mazda after completing his school. Hans Ooft, the new manager, rated him highly and made him an anchoring midfielder for the team. Moriyasu was offered a trial at Manchester United in April 1990. In 1993 Japan’s first professional league, J.League began. Mazda was changed to Sanfrecce Hiroshima, for whom he continued playing. He was a part of Hiroshima’s team that managed the midfield. This helped the club win the second stage in the 1994 J1 League season.
He was part of the Japan team which won the 1992 Asian Cup. He also played in all Japan games except for the final against Saudi Arabia, where he was suspended.
He was capped 35 times between 1992 and 1996. He scored one goal for his country in a friendly against Australia on 10 February 1996.
