Hadi Al-Amiri Biography

Hadi Al-Amiri is one of the most popular and richest Politician who was born on July 1, 1954 in Diyala Governorate, Iraq. Hadi al-Ameri (hdy-lmry) was the head of and secretary general for the Badr Organization. This Shiite organization was sponsored by Iran and based out of Iraq. [1] He was born in Diyala in 1954. He was a member of the United Iraqi Alliance and used to be the head of the Shiite political group Badr as well as his armed group Badr Brigade.

He was the commander for Iraqi forces during the liberation of Jurf Al Sakhar in 2014’s conflict. He was a commander in Popular Mobilization Forces and has been actively involved in the fight against ISIL. He is often accompanied by Brett H. McGurk, President Donald J. Trump’s Special Presidential Envoy for Global Coalition to Counter ISIL. He speaks Persian fluently.

On 31 December 2019, along with Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, Qais Khazali, and Falih Alfayyadh, he was identified by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo as a leader of the attack on the United States embassy in Baghdad. In the aftermath of the 2020 Baghdad International Airport airstrike which resulted in the deaths of Qasem Soleimani and al-Muhandis, al-Amiri was seen as a candidate to replace al-Muhandis as a leader of the Popular Mobilization Forces, an Iraqi coalition of militias which fought against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant terrorist group.

He was Secretary of Transportation, but also as a foe to Saddam Hussein in 2011 when he accompanied Nouri al-Maliki, the Iraqi Prime Minister, on a visit the White House.
