Gregory Strong (born 5 September 1975) is an English professional footballer who was a defensive player. He was head coach of Rhyl from 2009 to 2015, and the chief scout for Plymouth Argyle between 2015 and in the year 2018.

The summer of 2008 was when, Strong became a member of the Welsh League side, Rhyl and was appointed manager of players at Rhyl in the summer of 2009. In May of 2015, Strong quit Rhyl FC by “mutual consent”.

After a time and a half with Livingston Strong was signed by Dundee in the summer of 2006. But he was let go by Dundee in the latter part of 2006 and on the 8th of March in 2007, he hired by Conference club Halifax Town. He scored during his debut with the Shaymen within only four minutes and was then released by Halifax Town at the close of the season becoming a league rival with Northwich Victoria. Strong quit Northwich in January of 2008 and joined Droylsden where they played for the remainder time.

Strong is a native of Bolton and began his football professional career at Wigan Athletic in 1992 after playing for the England youth internationals and schoolboys. He played for two seasons at Wigan before making the move to his home team Bolton Wanderers in August 1995. He had a difficult time establishing himself at Bolton having played just 22 games for the club over four seasons. He was loaned to Blackpool where he played 12 appearances and scored one goal. He also played for Stoke City where he played five times between 1998 and 1999, scoring one goal in a match against former team Wigan Athletic. Then he moved to Scottish club Motherwell during the spring of 1999 when he was a well-known player for 2 seasons in Fir Park.

Then he returned England in 2002, when the club signed him up Hull City. After struggling to score games at Hull, Strong had loan stints at Cheltenham Town, Scunthorpe United and Bury before moving for Boston United. He had a brief time on loan at Macclesfield Town before moving to Scotland and signing with Livingston in 2005.

In July 2016, after the appointment of former Motherwell teammate Derek Adams as manager, Strong joined Plymouth Argyle as chief scout. He remained in the role until November 2018.
