Grant Robert Murray (born 29 August 1975 in Edinburgh) is a Scottish professional footballer and manager. His versatility enabled him to perform in a variety of positions throughout his career, including defensive midfielder as well as fullback, though the majority of people believed him to be a centre defender.
In October of the year 2015 Murray had been working as a coach for Hibernian youth players. He coached Hibs’s Hibs under-20 team to a double success in 2017-18. They won the SPFL Development League and the Scottish Youth Cup.
Murray began his career with Hearts and was a part of their first team for six seasons. Murray was a non-striker when Hearts defeated Rangers 1-1 during their 1997 Scottish Cup Final. Murray relocated into St Johnstone in 2001, but the club was relegated out of the Scottish Premier League (SPL) in 2002. Murray was then signed by Partick Thistle in 2003, however, they were dropped out of the SPL in 2004 and then the First Division in 2005. Murray was signed by Kilmarnock at the end of 2006 and there it was again a partnership together with Jim Jefferies, who had been his manager at Hearts. He signed a new two- year deal for Kilmarnock in April of 2007.

Murray had to be released by Kilmarnock following Kilmarnock’s 2007-09 Scottish Premier League season. Murray signed with First Division club Raith Rovers at the end of the 2009 season. Murray scored his debut goals at Raith Rovers on 29 August 2009, with a stunning 30 yard strike at Dunfermline Athletic in a Fife derby at East End Park.
Murray became a coach as he played at Raith Rovers, earning UEFA qualifications. On July 3, 2012 Murray was named their manager/player. Murray signed an extension agreement for Raith Rovers in December 2013. He led Raith Rovers to victory in the 2013-14 Scottish Challenge Cup, winning in the final against Rangers at Easter Road. This is his debut trophy manager and Raith’s first cup victory since 1994-95’s Scottish League Cup. Murray was dismissed in April 2015 by Raith in April of 2015 following a string of five consecutive defeats.
