On the 9th of February, the 9th of February, 2008 Munro recorded the record- breaking 1000th goals in the history Inverness Caledonian Thistle, in an 1-1 draw against St Mirren. On October 8, 2008 Munro agreed to sign a second contract at the Caley Jags to keep him on the team until the end of 2011. In May of 2011, it was confirmed from the Caley Jags that Munro did not get an extension to his contract. However, he was able in scoring goals in the 3-2 win for Inverness with a 3-2 victory against Celtic on the 4th of May to end their title expectations.
The news was made public on 24 May, 2011 Munro had signed a two-year pre- contract in conjunction with Ross County. Director Derek Adams said “I am delighted to have signed Grant. His experience on the pitch will be vital in the season ahead. He has been a consistent performer over many years and will add further quality to our squad.” The news was announced on May 21 that Munro was given an extension of his contract as a reward for his fifth place finish on the Scottish Premier League.
