Gondrezick was a part of the 1987-88 basketball season on the sidelines following an indefinite suspension due to his participation in a drug conspiracy investigation. In 1987, his NBA career was halted by an addiction to cocaine, but thanks to John Lucas II, he was able to recover and returned to his basketball career, playing in the minor leagues, as well as in Europe.
