Hood has represented his home nation at the two successive Summer Olympics that began in 1992. He was awarded his gold in the male 1.500 meters course at 1999’s Pan American Games in his hometown of Winnipeg.
Hood was a collegiate athlete for the powerhouse college track team Arkansas Razorbacks where he helped the team to win NCAA championships in cross-country and also in outdoor and indoor track and field. Hood won the title of best Relay Runner in the college males during the 1994 Penn Relays.
