Graeme “Foxy” Fowler (born 20 April 1957) is an English professional cricketer who was also a cricket coach that played at Lancashire County Cricket Club, England and later, for Durham. Fowler played at 21 matches of the Test format as well as the 26 One Day International (ODIs) for England with a batting average of 35.32 during his Test batsmanship. After his playing career , he created Centre of Excellence programme within the Durham MCCU based at Durham University in 1996. The results of which resulted in to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to create five additional centres. Fowler was removed as the head coach in the year 2015 after a change in the system.
Fowler’s best One Day International score of 81 not out against Pakistan occurred in the 1983 World Cup, in which Fowler scored four consecutive half- centuries to get England to make it to the semi-finals with an average of 72.00 for the entire tournament. Fowler was the only player to record this feat with four successive fifty+ scores during the World Cup, but these were the only instances where Fowler scored over fifty in the ODIs.
In 1992, Fowler suffered amongst others as Lancashire had a widescale clear- out of its playing staff.

He made his debut in the Test match in 1982, the year that 16 England players were suspended for three years due to their participation in the tour of rebels from South Africa during the apartheid time. His highest score in a Test was 201, which was scored during a nine-hour test at Madras (now Chennai); it was the first time a double century was scored that was scored by an English cricketer in India. Mike Gatting also scored a double century in the same match which was the first time two English batsmen have scored two centuries in the same Test game.

Fowler is a native of Accrington, Lancashire. He was educated at Accrington Grammar School and Durham University, Fowler made his debut as a first-class cricketer in 1979. He was the usual batting opener for both the county and the country and his most successful opening team was that of Gehan Mendis between 1986 and 1993.
It is only one batsman to have scored two hundred and a half in a single match without the help of runners. In the 1982 match with Lancashire in Southport during 1982, the player injured his thigh while playing field in the first day’s match during the Warwickshire innings of 523-4, but he batted with no runners for 26 stumps unbeaten. He scored exactly 100 just before dinner on day two. He had David Lloyd as his runner. The second innings was when Ian Folley ran for Fowler (and was applauded by the crowd for his century) as Fowler hit 128 not out at the end of the day. The year 1987 was the one when Fowler made an unbeaten 100 in the Sunday League match against Somerset despite an injury that required him to bat as an player.
Against New Zealand at The Oval in 1983, Fowler scored his first Test hundred (105 off 303 balls), as Chris Tavare and he became the first England openers to score a century in the same Test innings for twenty three years. His second Test century came against the West Indies at Lord’s in 1984.
