Gordon Eric Peter Sweetzer (born 27 January 1957) is a Canadian professional footballer who played forward. In a brief career plagued by injuries that he had, he was a part of the Football League for Brentford, Cambridge United and in the North American Soccer League for Toronto Blizzard and Edmonton Drillers. Sweetzer was a three-time captain for Canada and then became a coach and manager. As as a player Sweetzer could be described by his teammates as “an aggressive, all-action, bustling striker, with little finesse about his game”.

Sweetzer was manager of Isthmian League Premier Division club Staines Town between November 1990 until June 1991. He is currently an assistant coach for youth in Toronto High Park.

Sweetzer was transferred to the high-flying Third Division club Cambridge United for a fee of PS30,000 in April 1978. It was an arrangement that brought him back with the club’s manager John Docherty, who had signed him in Brentford. Sweetzer was thrilled to be promoted into the Second Division with the club at the close of the 1977-78 campaign, but the rest of his tenure was plagued with injuries and he resigned from the club in the year 1980. Then he returned to Canada to play for the North American Soccer League club Toronto Blizzard in 1980 and 1981, and then he concluded the season in. an unintentional return to Brentford and a stint with North American Soccer League club Edmonton Drillers.
