Gordon Staniforth is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on March 23, 1957 in Kingston upon Hull, England, United Kingdom. Gordon Staniforth (born 23 March 1957) is a English soccer coach as well as a former football player. He was a player for the Football League for Hull City, York City (two separate stints), Carlisle United, Plymouth Argyle and Newport County. Also, Staniforth played in England at the schoolboy level of international competition. From November 2013 until Oct. 2014 Staniforth was the head coach at FA WSL 2 club Doncaster Rovers Belles.
The son of Staniforth Tom (1980-2001) also a professional footballer. Tom was a professional player playing for Sheffield Wednesday, but never played in a first team game. He did however play as substituted for the first team for six times, including matches in opposition to Manchester United and Arsenal. He passed away on the streets of York on the evening of 20 August 2001, at the age of 20 years old, after he fell to the ground in the street and complained of headaches. The 31st of January in 2002, a man from the area–as well as a the former York City youth team goalkeeper–was accused of supplying ecstasy Tom Staniforth. Staniforth was cleared of the charge because the prosecution did not present any evidence against the man. After the death of his son, Gordon Staniforth has been engaged in anti-drug efforts.
His daughter, Lucy Staniforth, plays in the FA WSL for Liverpool and has also represented England at under-17, under-19 and Under–23 level. She featured in the 2010 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Germany. Lucy wears number 37—Tom’s old Sheffield Wednesday squad number. After hitting the first goal in Lincoln Ladies’ 3–0 WSL win at Doncaster Rovers Belles, Lucy revealed a T-shirt paying tribute to Tom on the tenth anniversary of his death.
On 6 November 2013 Staniforth was announced as FA WSL club Doncaster Rovers Belles’s new head coach. He would work under director of football Julie Chipchase, who said the appointment was made only after “a rigorous interview and practical coaching assignment”. Staniforth led the team to five straight wins in his first five league games in charge and the Belles lost only one league match all season but finished behind Sunderland. On 30 October 2014, he resigned as Head Coach at the club, disgruntled at scything cuts to the club’s playing budget.
After his retirement, he was employed as a Community Officer at York between 1989 and December 1996, at which point his role changed to the North Regional coach for the Professional Footballers Association. He was named youth trainer at Leeds United in October 1997 and was dismissed in May 1998 following just seven months of a 3-year contract.

Staniforth was born in Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, Staniforth attended Greatfield High School. He started his profession as an apprentice for Hull City and he signed an official deal with them in April of 1974. He made his debut start in an 1-0 loss against Swindon Town on 15 April. He was signed by York City on a one-month loan in December of 1976 and made his first appearance in the 3-2 loss against Sheffield Wednesday on 27 December. He joined York for a permanent contract in the beginning of January, for the sum of $7,500. He scored 33 goals in 128 league matches, as well as winning the Clubman of Year award in consecutive seasons. He is the first player ever to do this.
He was transferred to Carlisle United in October 1979 for a cost of $120,000. It was his first time joining Plymouth Argyle in March 1983 as part of a player swap together with Mike McCartney plus PS5,000 and was part of the team which reached the FA Cup semi-final. In August 1985, he transferred to Newport County as a part of the form of a player swap together with Steve Cooper plus PS15,000. It was his return to York in October of 1987 under non-contract terms, which ended his career as a professional. He ended his career playing Non-League soccer playing for North Ferriby United, whom was signed by in July 1988 , and left in September 1989.
He then worked as co-ordinator of York College’s Football Development Centre, alongside former York City goalkeeper Andy Leaning. The centre was awarded FA Charter status in 2005.
