George Koonce is one of the most popular and richest American Football Player who was born on October 15, 1968 in New Bern, North Carolina, United States. George Koonce (born October 15 in 1968) was an American athlete and director of athletics. Formerly a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) Koonce was the athletic director of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee from 2009 to the year 2010.

His contract was signed by Seattle Seahawks as an unrestricted free agent prior to the season began in 2000, and played in the entire 16 games. Following the 2000 season, his final season, he had 9 sacks, 720 tackles and 5 interceptions across 128 matches (118 games played).

He spent of two years as an Assistant Athletic Director for Development, assisting with fundraising and marketing of the department. He also earned his master’s degree in Sport Management in 2006 from ECU.

He served as the Senior Associate Director of Athletics at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was responsible for fundraising, major gifts, community relations, and student welfare. He joined the Golden Eagles in 2007. He also pursued his Ph.D. in Sport Administration while at Marquette.

He was admitted into the National Junior College Hall of Fame in 2000. He was also inducted into his hall of honor located at East Carolina University. In 1999, he established the George Koonce Jr. Foundation to provide less fortunate children with athletic, educational and cultural opportunities that aid in their growth. Koonce’s future plans are focused on academics. He earned his Master’s degree in Athletic Management at East Carolina University and Ph.D. from Marquette University (one of only two players in the Packers 100-year history to obtain the distinction of a PhD), Koonce has been referred to for being “The Doctor of Defense.” He is a part of the NFL’s player Engagement Advisory Board. He also co-authored a book titled Is There a Future After Football? Surviving the NFL. Koonce is currently the senior vice president of the Office of University Relations at Marian University in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin where he provides leadership and strategic direction , while taking charge of increasing awareness and growing philanthropic support to Marian University by fostering involvement with alumni and community. Koonce is also an on-air host at the Green Bay’s CBS affiliate, which airs “Backstage with George Koonce,” and “Locker Room”.
