George Angelo Cappuzzello (born January 15th 1954) is an ex- American athlete in baseball. He pitched with both his team the Detroit Tigers and Houston Astros. He played for two different teams for two seasons. He finished his career in the year 1982.
In the beginning in the season of 1982 Cappuzzello was let go from the Tigers and then picked up one week later with the Houston Astros. For Cappuzzello’s Astros, Cappuzzello worked in relief and pitched superbly over 19/3 innings with 16 hits, allowing just 16 hits and striking out 13 with an impressive 2.79 ERA. This was a high point, but was Cappuzzello’s final appearance as an MLB pitcher. The professional baseball career of Cappuzzello was abruptly ended.
Cappuzzello began his career for his team the Tigers the day before May 31, 1981, against the Baltimore Orioles. Cappuzzello didn’t fare very well in the game, allowing the batters three runs earned and three walks within an inning. But, Cappuzzello stayed with the team throughout the rest of the season. He started in three games before as a relief pitcher in fifteen other games. He had an ERA of 3.48 Earned Run Average (ERA) and finished 1-1 in the entire season.

Cappuzzello was born in Girard, Ohio and attended Youngstown State University. He finished his studies at Florida State University, where he played baseball. Cappuzzello was selected into the Detroit Tigers in the 27th round of the 1972 Major League Baseball Draft.
Cappuzzello was a long time of time within the system of farm players prior to when his trade for the Cincinnati Reds on March 6 1978, along with John Valle, in exchange for Reds pitcher Jack Billingham. Two years after, Cappuzzello was released by the Reds and was later taken over by his previous team which was that of the Detroit Tigers. After a stellar performance in Triple-A baseball that year, Cappuzzello was called up to the major leagues.
