Gavin Peter McCann (born 10 January 1978) is an English retired footballer who was midfielder during the English Premier League. He has only one England cap in the game with Spain on the pitch at Villa Park in 2001. He is currently the assistant manager for the Under-18s at Bolton Wanderers.

On February 28, 2008 McCann started his own soccer academy at Lytham St Annes, which was the first of its kind located on the Fylde coast. Its Milligan- McCann Academy is aimed at between 8 and 12 years olds and operates from King Edward VII and Queen Mary School. McCann joined forces with two former Blackpool player, Jamie Milligan, who is a part of Fleetwood Town since 2004 and John Hills who also signed for Fleetwood Town in August 2008 Both were raised in Blackpool and grew up alongside McCann in order to form the academy. In October 2008, the academy secured a major partnership together with Northern Care, with coaching sessions being held on the campus of King Edward VII & Queen Mary School every weekend along with long summer courses that run for a week. The academy also has an award to encourage children to participate in “park football”.

McCann scored his first goal for Bolton in their 1–0 UEFA Cup group win over Red Star Belgrade in December 2007 and followed this up with a goal in a 1–1 draw with Sporting Clube de Portugal at the Reebok Stadium three months later in the knockout stage of the cup. He scored his first league goal for Bolton in a 1–0 victory over Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium on 19 April 2008.

McCann’s contract ran out at the end of June 2010, McCann had picked up a knee injury and Owen Coyle said that once he recovered from the injury, he would have a chance to earn a new contract. He was not included in Bolton’s 25-man squad for the 2010–11 season.

He was signed by Aston Villa in 2003, in which he experienced many injuries and setbacks. He scored one goal during the 2006-07 campaign in an away loss of 3-1 in the league to Manchester City. He wasn’t being guaranteed first team status and decided to quit Villa Park, and in June 2007 He signed a five-year contract for Bolton Wanderers.
